I truly struggled to read and finish this book. I found nothing likable or redeeming in Willow's character. I never connected with her and only felt sorry that Kade didn't move on without her. I didn't like Willow's character, she acted like a know it all and too good to listen to explanations. She acted like Kade was in the wrong ALL the time and he should kiss her a**. She was a real b***h. She didn't even want to go to Kade's room to talk. She thought too highly of herself. She was an uncompromising stuffy know it all over half the book and never redeems herself for me. Kade should have cut his losses and moved on because he deserved bettter than her. Willow's roomate Katie is extremely interfering and nosey. It was typical but sad to see that Willow was eager to believe the worst about Kade from his ex's mom. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and am giving an honest review.Product details

Hail Mary A Second Chances Sports Romance Gridiron Love Book 1 edition by Vanessa Fox Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I enjoyed this story. Kade and Willow found each other in their senior year of high school. They weren't exactly your typical expected couple then but they made it work and fell in love and thought it was forever. Then college decisions came and things got jumbled up and they parted ways in a bad place. Neither was over the other but both thought the other one didn't care enough to make it work. Fast forward years later and both are starting lives after college when they have a bit of a chance meeting. Kade spots her in the crowd at one of his football games and everything is brought back for them both. Kade tracks her down and they have a rough go of it. Both are still hurt from the past and neither has healed from it. They both just numbed themselves to what happened rather than dealing with it. But they just can't stay away from each other. They are meant to be an dthings just keep drawing them back together. They have to fight for their relationshp and figure out a way to make things work. There is a lot of back and forth in this story because of that. The sex is explicit after we catch up with them in present time. They have a past, one they never got over, and so things move quickly once they get together and are alone lol. I enjoyed the story. It had a couple parts where I thought the solution was a little too easy, little too accepted after it was a huge problem just a short time ago. It didn't detract from my enjoyment of the story that much, just didn't seem as plausible. The story flowed well and kept me entertained.

Hail Mary A Second Chance Romance by Vanessa Fox is a surprising novel. I am normally not a fan of sports in romance novels; however, Fox does a great job of explaining the sport of football without droning on about the sport or using all this jargon that left me wondering what was happening. It was most impressive.
I enjoyed the way that Fox created Willow Greene as this shy and bookish girl who had this secret bad girl inside. The only one who ever saw this bad girl was her one true love. However, unlike most fairy tales, this love story has many twists and turns in the plot. Fox takes her time with Willow’s growth to show how a girl grows from the wisp of a girl to the mature woman who knows what she wants, yet keeps herself vulnerable.
Then of course there is the alpha male, Kade Hughes. Now this is the sports star whose single goal in life is to play professional football and go to something called the Gridiron Bowel. When in high school, he just knew that Willow Greene was the ONE. However, as with life things never work out the way you plan. It is critical for Kade to face the challenges of growing up to become the man that is deserving of Willow’s heart.
Fox’s descriptions of the emotional turmoil and depths of these two characters makes the references to football acceptable to the non-sports fan.
The characters run the gambit and Fox brings her readers along for the ride. Oh, what a ride it is!
I received an ARC, but voluntarily reviewed. The opinion expressed is my own, not influenced by anyone or anything other than my reaction to the story read.
I voluntarily review an ARC of this book. Vanessa Fox did a fantastic job! Really enjoyed this book!! I was hooked right away. It's hot, steamy, sexy with a dirty talking quarterback. A Great read! Great storyline with amazing characters. Didn't disappoint. I would definitely recommend this book.
Kade Hughes is the high school quarterback with all the girls wanting a piece of him. His character, though cocky, arrogant and egotistic at times, was consistent and swoon-worthy throughout. And a smile that would melt your panties.
Willow Greene is new at Riverside High School she is awkward, nerdy, shy insecure in herself and wears modest prime & proper attire. On her first day she is harassed by the school jock and his buddy. She gets so annoyed she turns and gives him the evil eye. Kade can't help himself he is totally crushing on the new girl and this has never happen to him before. Turns out Kade dads house is across the street from Willow's house. They start a relationship it's sweet charming and seems to be going in the right direction until it's not, college. Do to misunderstanding they breakup and move on. Thru the years they both have felt an emptiness that can't be filled.
4 Years later things have changed they are all grown up. They meet again and hookup and do circumstances breakup again. Willow has her doubts she is up and down miss trusting herself & listens to what others are saying instead of asking the one person she should be able to confined in. Kade is angry not sure what the heck is going on. Can these two move pass all the doubts and misguided information and be real couple? Or are they just doomed without a way out? Inquiring minds want to know. Grab a copy today and start reading. Enjoy happy reading 📚
