This is the second Tammy Robinson book I've read and absolutely adored. Between my tears, I was shaking my head in wonder...how does she do it? Creates characters so real and so life like it's like you're right there with them. This book had lots of unexpected twists and turns that had me racing through it to find out what would happen. The letters throughout the book added so much depth to the story line and made me love Ivy - I just wanted to reach through the pages and give her a huge hug. The settings, through Ivy's travels are rich, and well written, and a great touch as she goes through her journey to heal. Ivy's Grandad is about the sweetest guy ever! And Walt! I'll let you find out about that... The way Tammy writes emotion, and loss, and love is truly magnificent, and I can't wait to start her next book which is waiting patiently on my kindle. I had only literally finished Tammy Robinson's first book, Charlie and Pearl (which I incidentally loved) when I embarked on the journey of her second novel, When Stars Collide. So what is it that appeals to me? The genre I would suggest is new to me but it's not the genre that envelopes and holds me. Honestly, it's Tammy's characters, their 'rawness', their honesty, their love, their commitment and their humanity. Tammy's work with this novel (as another has mentioned) isn't totally flawless, and yet I don't need it to be. The plot unfolds nicely, weaving here and there. At one point totally caught me off-guard!!! Essentially for me it's the characters I love. I want to meet them. I know people like them! I want to think I have the courage of Walt in this novel! Do I? I'm unsure. You get that with Tammy's characters, I believe, you get a realness, a humanity that is missing from other character developments. Well done Tammy. This I will read again. I thoroughly recommend this book. Go ahead. You'll not be disappointed by what us a authentic 'page-turner' - and a little tear jerker at times - ssshhh....Not that I will admit to this! ;-)
I wanna kill that 'first love never dies' feeling of Ivy towards Walt (I really can relate to it). I love how Walt treasured Ivy. I like the granddaughter-grandpa relationship. Tammy nailed it. Love the ending.
Another fantastic story. Once I started reading it was hard to put down, you are drawn into the story right away and carried along. As with Tammy's last book, her characters are well developed, they become people you feel you know, and you want things to work out for them.
The twist came earlier than expected and really hit hard. Once again Tammy has delivered a great read.
This is the 1st book that has nearly had me in tears. I have NEVER connected with a story so deeply. It took me on an emotional rollercoaster! I loved it!
A brilliant book written in outstanding Tammy Robinson style!
I loved this story, in fact I couldn't put it down. The characters were so loveable & frustrating in equal measures! It has enough little twists & turns to keep you turning the pages until the end. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this & will be following this author in anticipation of the next book!
I discovered Ms. Robinson via her blog earlier this year. I read her first book, Charlie and Pearl, and absolutely loved it. As a result, I was looking forward to her next effort. She doesn't disappoint with When Stars Collide. I started reading it last night and then spent today racing through it. What Tammy does incredibly well is right simple love stories in a page-turning style. The other thing I like is that she uses news stories to create the foundation for her fiction.
Is When Stars Collide perfectly written? No. There are some issues which is why I've only given this four stars. From the perspective of how much I wanted to read this story until it was over, however, it is definitely five stars. It's a beautiful love story.
